Term 2 - Week 4 - Geometry

For the past four weeks we have been busy with Geometry. This is the area of Mathematics that focuses on shape, size and the position of figures.
This branch of Mathematics is rich with new vocabulary. Have a chat with your tamariki-you might be pleasantly surprised with their expanding vocabulary and their rapidly increasing knowledge of Geometry!

Term 2 - Week 2

After much thought and some great persuasive discussions, we have finally decided on a song to use for our skipping routine. Please encourage your child to practice at home. each student should be able to skip non-stop for three minutes! (This is actually a lot harder than it sounds- I'm speaking from experience lol!) Term 2 - Week 1: Skipping

It's great to be back at school, although it's a little nippier than Term 1! Term 2 is time for skipping at Glen Innes School and students have already started practising their routines for the Skip-a-thon (date to be confirmed later in the term).

Practice has begun!

Term 2 - Week 1: Tamaki Rejuvenation Company (TRC)

On Wednesday afternoon Room 10 visited the Tamaki Rejuvenation Company (TRC) container which was stationed at the front of the school. The visitors shared the plans for the Tamaki area with the students. These plans include building 7 500 new homes over the next few years!

These new, affordable homes will be architecturally designed to maximise space with clever design and will feature high ceilings and windows to let in light and warmth. There will be a variety of styles, giving our streets and neighbourhood an individual feel.

By offering a range of sizes, from 2 bedrooms to 4 bedrooms the TRC hope to attract a great mix of new home-owners.  Singles, families, working or retired - variety makes a great community!
