To our Muslim brothers and sisters and everyone in Christchurch I am deeply sorry for the loss that has taken your family members and friends. This definitely is New Zealand's darkest day!
We often hear about terrorism happening in other parts of the world ... but for it to happen in our own backyard is so surreal ...
Kia Kaha Christchurch ! Our prayers and thoughts are with you.
We are Year 7/8 students at Glen Innes School in Auckland, New Zealand and our teacher is Ms Petersen.

2019 Term 1 Week 5 - Writing Competition Winners
We had a very special assembly today! Instead of assembling in the hall, the entire school gathered on the astroturf, on the senior side of the school. Here we got to witness Eden and Jasmine, the winners of the Senior School Writing Competition, get chauffeured home in a fabulous corvette. The girls were not driven straight home but got to stop in Mission Bay for an ice-cream! Lucky girls!
There were also prizes for Benson and Toby (both year 6 students) who participated in and excelled in the Year 7/8 2.4km run. Well done, boys!

2019 Term 1 Week 4 - Meet the Teacher
Thank you to all the whanau who were able to come to the 'Meet the Teacher' afternoon. It was wonderful chatting and catching up. Remember if you couldn't make it on Thursday, you could pop in when you're free, just flick me an email and we could set up a mutually agreeable time.
Remember that swimming continues till the end of term, please make sure that students bring their togs and towel to school.
We also have culture groups on a Thursday afternoon; we would love it if whanau were able to come in and lend a hand.

2019 Term 1 Week 3 - Blackmores Community Day
Blackmores generously donated lunch to all students and teachers on Wednesday. This was then followed by dessert - Haagen Dazs ice-cream (yum). What a treat in this Summer weather!
Blackmores employees also did quite a bit of work around the school, including painting the front office a vibrant shade of orange. Pop over and have a look!
Reminder: Thursday 21 February is 'Meet the Teacher' afternoon. All details have been sent out in the newsletter or you could use the Skool Loop app. Please come by to have a chat or a sausage and a drink, I'd love to meet new families and reconnect with existing families. It's also a great opportunity to check out our newly-painted front office.
