2018 Term 2 Week 5 - Buddhist Temple Visit

Today we visited the Buddhist Temple near Botany. Here is a recount from Sau telling us about his visit:

On Friday every  room in the school,  except room 1 and room 2, went to the Buddhist Temple to learn about Buddhist culture. There were four buses for all the students.  It was a long drive.

When we got to the Buddhist Temple we saw some  ladies holding up signs with number and it said group 1, group 2, group 3 and group 4. Room 10 went to group 3. At the first activity we were asked to feel the mondo grass and they told us about the bell and the drum. The bell means  it is  a brand new day and the drum reminds you that the day is almost ending and that you still have time to do good.

After we felt the mondo grass we went to the wishing bell. The wishing bell is when you wish for something then you ring the bell and put your palms together and bow down.

After we did the wishing bell we went to make an origami lotus flower. We went inside to make origami lotus flower. I was making it with my friend Royal,

Then we went inside to offer the Buddha with flowers, We need ed to put a flower on  green grass and bow down to it. After we did that we went to a little room full of wishes, we needed to make a wish and pin it on the wall.

After making a wish we went outside and bathed the Buddha.  We used a ladle  and poured water over the Buddha and said good words while doing it.

Then we had a snack, it was some water and a chocolate chip cookies. I didn't like the cookies because there was too much dough. After we had a snack we got a washable tattoo.

Lastly we went to see police officer and the police officer told us about the 3G and 4G. 3G stands for: Say good words, Do good deeds and Think good Thoughts. Then the 4G stands for giving others convenience,  giving others hope, giving others joy and giving  others confidence.  I learnt lots at the Buddhist Temple.
